British English?!?

Postby Clem Trilling » 11 Nov 2010, 01:44

Bloody hell, governor! My knickers are all a-twist, owing to the inalterable language setting. I have accordingly given my 'interests' in UK terms, so please note that size 18 refers to US EZ-fit dress size 1X, if my preference has any bearing. ;)

This BB software has quite a lot of functionality so it does look promising. Everyone can now edit (and I believe delete) their own messages, but not the messages of others of course.

I have switched off the option to display e-mail addresses since I'm sure most of you would not want that. I believe showing your location is optional, and it should be off by default. There is an option near the bottom of the page when composing a message to be notified when someone replies to your message, or at lest there is for me. because I am signed in as the administrator, I may see functions that you don't. Let me know if you don't see something I have mentioned.

There are a number of features which I can turn on or off, so if there is some function you'd like to have included or something you'd prefer was removed, let me know and I'll see if it is possible. The software does seem locked on U.K. English for grammar - no, really!! I'm sure that will be nice for European visitors, while U.S. authors will get to see some of the many differences between the two versions of English (you don't normally because these are filtered out of U.S. publications).

Have fun, lads and ladies!

Looks good. Will there be anything copied over from the old (new but not newest) forums?

Personally I prefer IF-based forums but PHP is decent too. Are there likely to be any issues with the makers of PHP given the theme of this forum, even if it is hosted here? "You may not use our software for X" etc stuff?

I don't think we'll have a problem with this, but I suppose one should never say never!

Hey Dave,

I really do like the format of the new forums. I am glad that you finally are hosting the forums on your bound2burst.net website as you will have the control that you need to make sure that these forums live on for the life of B2B and I am sure that many of us hope that is a long time to go. 8-)

Hello Lizz, and welcome. The forum has been around for quite a while, but we've had to change board providers several times. This one is likely to stay put.

Best - Dave.
