The problem is still ongoing. Here is the original post from Dreamhost followed by the latest update:
The apache (web), SSH, and ftp, and services on a subset of our VPS and dedicated servers are currently down. FTP services on some shared servers are also experiencing downtime. Our system administration and data center operation teams are currently on the case and we are attempting to restore services as soon as possible. Further updates will be provided.
Please note that this only affects web VPS/dedicated and shared web server FTP services, no other services or servers (MySQL or mail, for example) are affected.
Update Jan 29th, 10:20am PST: Updates are still being rolled out across all the affected machines. We have a team of admins responding to services that are not coming up after updates and are trying to restore service to all affected services ASAP. We don’t know what caused the issues with the packages yet, and likely will not until service is restored everywhere and we can do a full autopsy. More info to come soon. -dan w
