Caution about using Store Order History as Digitial Library

I gather that some of you are using your purchase history as a digital library. OpenCart is not optimized for downloads, and there have been occasions when customers have done something untoward (they never admit what it is) and their entire purchase history has disappeared. It has not happened often, but it is possible. I encourage you to always download your purchases and store them on backup drives, preferably two such drives because, sooner or later, one will fail. Safeguard your purchases in this way rather than leaving them online. If you lose them all, I will not undertake to manually replace them for you; this is labour intensive and should never be necessary.

You can store your videos on Dropbox if you want them to be safe from accidental deletion. If your library is big enough, you'll have to pay money to Dropbox, but you can store a small amount for free. It stores it on your hard drive in a special location which is linked to Dropbox, and everything in that location is synchronized with an online database. It stores a copy online as well as on your computer. You can also use Dropbox to transfer files from one computer to another, or to share as view-only with friends.
