Playing older videos

Postby Bound2Burst » 16 Apr 2017, 12:32

Every now and again, someone will write to me explaining that they cannot play my older videos. Owing to changes to codecs over time, some older videos won't play on Windows Media Player because Microsoft, in its questionable wisdom, periodically abandons backwards compatibility in its products. To avoid this problem, I recommend using VLC, a free and open source cross-platform multimedia player that plays most multimedia files as well as DVDs, Audio CDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. Versions are available for PC, Mac, Ubuntu and Fedora. Here's the link: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html

...and yes, it is safe.
