Files Forever is gone for good

According to our records you’ve used our “Files Forever” storage service at some point over the last two years. Thanks for that!
Unfortunately the systems that house the entirety of Files Forever suffered a catastrophic failure some time ago and our efforts to recover that lost data have, we are sad to report, proved fruitless.

As a result of this data loss, and because Files Forever struggled to maintain usership of more than two dozen users at any given time, we have chosen to shutter the Files Forever service entirely as we focus on maintaining and building more agile and better-supported technology for storage.

Luckily there are many companies who are today fulfilling the promise of Files Forever, and we’d encourage you to check out any of these seemingly-very-capable options:

Dave,

I am glad that they finally came clean and are making a decision. Of course it would have been nice if they could have put the pieces together and made Files Forever last "Forever" but in life nothing is "Forever" or unlimited even if they say it is. I am also glad to see them providing a list of alternative places where their customers can go for equivalent service.

I am also really glad that they are looking to provide some credits as they should do for a service that they are not able to provide anymore. I hope they are able to refund to you the full amount you are owed so that those funds can go back on to the business.

OK. So what exactly does that mean for those of us who purchased videos? Naturally, Dave is not to blame. However, I have 41 files stored at FilesForever under various format including wmv, mov, wmv and quicktime zip, and some just as zip. Are they lost forever and do I need to buy them over again? Not sure what the next step is. It sucks for Dave, obviously, because he has done his best.

Ugh, this sucks. In general, and specifically for your business, Dave. Hopefully the transition to Clips4Sale will be the last payment site move you ever have to make.

I'll hold off on emailing you regarding my list of purchases from Files Forever. I have...I think I have...all of the files right now (though will need to check, once I get a copy of the list), but in any case, am happy to wait until the main backlog of requests is cleared before I send mine; there's no hurry.
