Bypassing Files Forever for new releases ... OR NOT
Posted: 20 Feb 2013, 10:44
Hello guys,
Well, as you can probably imagine, the persistence of the problem with Files Forever is putting a crimp in things this month. I am not sure how long it's going to take them to resolve the issue because it smacks of a server problem (some files won't download, others download but are corrupted, still others download and play successfully). In order to prevent things coming to a complete standstill, I am going to release a set of three new Carissa movies this Thursday (21st) which will be housed on the Bound2Burst server and will be downloadable from there. The only part the Files Forever system will play is to collect the payment.
When payment is made, you will be able to open the small text file called Carissa_Set11_Payment.rtf and inside this you will find a link, a user name and a password to access these files outside of Files Forever. The only down side of this is that your purchase will not be stored on the Files Forever system for future retrieval, so you will have to keep them safe. For those interested, I should be able to set up a means whereby you could buy a Files Forever version later for one cent, but that would not be for a while and would have to be done on an individual basis - for example, the files would only be available at that price for about 10 minutes at a time, during which you make your purchase.
If we're still having problems towards the end of the month when the new model's debut is ready (always assuming she turns up given the nastiness of the weather), I will employ the same arrangement. Hopefully it won't come to that, but forward planning doesn't hurt.
Again, apologies to everyone affected by this download problem. I wish I could do something to galvanize the staff at Dreamhost to get on with fixing it, but there really is little I can do other than wait along with all of you.
As of this morning, February 21st, I cannot load any files at all into Files Forever, not even small RTF files for collecting payment. I assume this means that work is finally in progress on addressing the problems with the system. This means no movie releases today, although one of them will be posted on Clips4Sale this morning, if anyone wants to spend the extra bucks.
